Overview

What are the features of 3M 76 spray adhesive?

This Scotch-Weld series adhesive, manufactured by 3M, offers several advantages:

    • Long working time: This allows for coating large surfaces before assembly. The open time is the maximum period between spraying and assembling the materials (after which a superficial skin forms, hindering adhesion).

      • Single-coat application: Bonding can occur up to 10 minutes after application.

      • Double-coat application: Bonding can occur up to 1 hour post-application. This long open time is one of 3M 76's most notable features.

    • Bonding challenging materials: Bonds difficult materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene, either to themselves or to other materials. It’s also ideal for paper, cardboard, felt, cork, fabric (like 3M 77), carpets, foam (which bonds well with 3M 74 spray adhesive), metal, wood, glass, PVC, etc. For smaller surfaces, special PVC spray adhesive is available.

    • Precise, controlled spray: The adjustable nozzle provides a lace spray pattern with no mist, saving adhesive. In the low position, the spray width is 2.5 cm; in the high position, it’s 7.5 cm.

    • Single or double coating: A single coating is recommended for light materials, while a double coating is best for heavier materials or those under stress.

    • Temperature resistance: Up to 71 °C

    • Good water and aging resistance

          Applications

This product's high versatility and strong adhesion make it suitable for numerous applications. Its quick performance and high bond strength make it ideal for polyethylene and polypropylene films, known for being challenging to bond.

Note: ADEZIF also offers repositionable spray adhesive, similar to a post-it adhesive, for temporary applications.

          Usage Tips

This ready-to-use spray covers 3.7 m² per aerosol

    • Choose the nozzle position according to the spray pattern desired (High or Low).

    • Spray the material(s) at 12-18 cm, then let it dry until it’s no longer tacky to the touch before applying pressure to bond.

    • Remember to purge the aerosol after use by turning it upside down and spraying until no adhesive is released.
