Overview

Characteristics of 3M Repositionable Spray Adhesive 75

3M pioneered the invention of repositionable adhesive technology, similar to post-it notes, which can be adhered, removed, and re-adhered repeatedly, now available in an easy-to-use aerosol spray format.

Part of the Scotch-Weld line, 3M 75 enables lightweight materials and fabrics to be repositioned without transferring adhesive. It applies smoothly without soaking into materials, leaving no stains or creases. It bonds instantly to various substrates without damaging them, rendering lightweight objects self-adhesive—such as fabric, paper, cardboard, plastic sheeting, and rubber—for temporary attachment to heavier materials like glass, wood, metal, and rigid plastics.

Ideal for temporarily holding lightweight elements in place before final assembly, 3M 75 is highly resistant to aging and does not harden over time. Transparent once dry, it provides an even, consistent adhesive layer with an open time ranging from 5 seconds to several hours and a coverage area of 6.5 m² per aerosol.

          Applications

Unlike other aerosol adhesives on our site, which are designed for permanent bonding (e.g., bonding fabric, PVC, foam, PE, PP plastics), 3M 75 is specialized for temporary applications:

    • Positioning sewing patterns, emblems, or badges during stitching
    • Attaching cutting templates to plastic surfaces
    • Mounting photos and temporary labels
    • Holding T-shirts in place during screen printing
    • Temporarily adhering paper masks in place
    • And more: creative hobbies, scrapbooking, modeling, and photography.

          Usage tips

    • Shake this spray adhesive well before using.

    • Apply it with a single coating. We recommend spraying the adhesive on the surface to hold the material that can be repositioned as needed.

    • Press down firmly on the nozzle (at a fixed flow rate) for even spray particles at 15-20 cm from the surface.

    • Allow the solvent to evaporate before assembly to avoid saturating either surface.

    • Stick the two surfaces together, and they can be removed and repositioned as required.

    • Don’t forget to purge the aerosol after use: turn the can upside down and spray until no adhesive comes out.
