      Description of ADEZIF MO500

ADEZIF MO500 is a single-sided surface protection tape designed for masking surfaces during sandblasting or grit blasting operations.

Its main feature is its exceptional impact resistance, which allows it to withstand the projected materials during sandblasting or grit blasting, such as aluminum oxide, steel shot, glass beads, or plastic media.

The tape has a rubber backing, providing shock resistance and natural flexibility. Its conformability enables application on various surfaces, including irregular or slightly curved ones.

With a thickness of 1.14 mm, it withstands blasting pressures up to 100 psi, preventing the infiltration and damage of sensitive surfaces or components due to the projection of abrasive media or other foreign debris.

The protected area is covered with MO500, while the unprotected parts are subjected to abrasive projection at different pressures using compressed air.

      Main applications

MO500 is primarily used for industrial stripping operations, in sectors like aeronautics and automotive industries.

• Sandblasting applies less pressure than grit blasting, allowing for either superficial stripping of coatings like dry paint or cleaning a surface.

• Grit blasting involves the projection of abrasive shot to achieve more intense mechanical stripping and surface roughness.

It is also used for sandblasting on wood or glass elements, such as stencils for signage.

      Product features and client benefits

This product remains flexible, does not crack or delaminate, and can be removed cleanly in one piece without leaving residue on most surfaces.

A silicone paper liner protects the adhesive. MO500 can be easily torn by hand, but for more precise cuts, using a blade is recommended. Available in mother rolls of 600 mm x 9.14 m and can be cut on demand.

Surface preparation before applying the tape is strongly recommended to ensure excellent adhesion.

It is advised to conduct preliminary testing to select the right masking tape based on its thickness or substrate type (fabric or rubber).

For sandblasting, you can choose the ADEZIF TO 160 adhesive cloth tape with a 0.33 mm thickness. The 3M YR 500 with a 0.8 mm thickness is suitable for both sandblasting and grit blasting.
