Overview

          What are the characteristics of 3M 3526 - 3527 ?

The SJ 3526 and SJ 3527 self-gripping adhesive tape is composed of two elements that can hook together : one part, called the “hook” (SJ 3526), composed of a multitude of small hooks, and the other part, called the “loop” (SJ 3527), composed of small fibres that are soft to the touch. These two bands are from the SCOTCHMATE range of the manufacturer 3M.

The reverse side of the bands was coated with a rubber-type adhesive that has high bonding strength on a large variety of surfaces. These include metal, wood and also plastic, including those with low surface energy surfaces (ABS, acrylic, polycarbonate, polystyrene, polypropylene…).

It may be noted that the adhesion of these self-gripping bands on cloth and foam can be improved through a technique called bonding under hot press : the band is bonded on the cloth and the adhesion is obtained under hot pressure with an iron or a professional press. The bonding is therefore instantaneous and lasts longer.

The optimal use of these self-bonding tapes is indoor, at a temperature higher than 20°C. This self-gripping tape can be used for multiple applications (POS, sewing…) and is practical to use.

For smaller applications (5 m roll), don’t hesitate to obtain the 3M SJ 352 D dispenser that contains a 3526 5m rolls of hooks and a 3527 5m roll of loops.
