Description of a hot melt glue gun

This is an electric heating gun designed to apply glue in a liquid form.

This hot glue gun is used with hot melt glues that come in the form of solid sticks, sometimes ribbed, with diameters varying by model. These sticks melt when heated to a specific temperature.

The glue is applied at a high temperature, but it cools quickly, providing a final assembly that is permanent and effective on a wide range of surfaces (cardboard, wood, paper, plastics, polystyrene, etc.).

The temperature of the melting chamber can be fixed or adjustable depending on the model, allowing for the extrusion of low melt or hot melt glues based on the chosen temperature.

It is user-friendly, reliable, and robust. Models made by 3M feature an ergonomic "inverted" grip: the pressure applied to extrude the glue is managed by the palm of the hand instead of the finger. The handle remains cool due to a double-walled design that dissipates heat.

The extrusion rate is variable, ranging from 12.5 g/min to 60 g/min. Various nozzles can be adapted to different models.

These accessories are essential in all industrial applications for packaging, DIY, crafts, etc.

          Compatible hot melt glue references

3M glue guns are only compatible with 3M products, while Adezif glue guns are only compatible with Adezif products.

          Precautions and cleaning

The use is quick and easy. Be careful with the nozzle during operation, as it gets hot, and the extruded glue can reach up to 223°C. Its use requires careful attention to avoid burns.

Using a low melt product extruded at 130 °C provides safety and reduces the risk of burns, which can be beneficial in environments like ESAT or penitentiary centers.

Special care should be taken with the glue gun after use to prevent clogging and glue buildup on the external part of the nozzle. Cleaning should only be done when the device is cold.

Tip: It is not necessary to clean the glue inside the nozzle since it will liquefy again as soon as the device is heated.

          Some tips for choosing

    • For greater versatility, opt for the 3M Polygun EC, which allows for adjustable temperature settings to accommodate both hot melt and low melt glues.

    • For gluing heat-sensitive surfaces, such as polystyrene, choose equipment capable of applying low melt glue at around 130°C.
