Overview

What are the specifications of 3M DP760?

The 3M DP760 is a two-component epoxy adhesive of the rigid type belonging to the Scotch-Weld range developed by 3M. Its main feature is its ability to withstand temperatures up to 230°C at peak. Its shear performance remains excellent, even at 200°C.

It is referred to as a structural adhesive because its shear strength after polymerization exceeds 7 MPa at -55°C, 23°C, and 80°C.

The adhesive polymerizes at room temperature, and the curing can be accelerated with moderate heat.

    Key characteristics:

    • Excellent shear performance.

    • High peel resistance.

    • Maintains performance even after prolonged exposure to humidity and heat.

    • Excellent chemical resistance.

    • Thixotropic paste consistency: the mixture does not flow, making it easier to apply.

    • Adhesion to many substrates: metal (steel, aluminum), glass, high surface energy plastics, polyamide rubber, and composites.

This adhesive was used on June 21, 2012, to set a Guinness World Record for bonding, establishing that Scotch-Weld DP760 is the strongest adhesive in the world. A 10-ton truck was suspended in the air for one hour at the 3M facility in Germany, thanks to the application of 3M DP760 on a 7 cm diameter surface connecting the truck to the crane.

We advise you to carefully check the condition of the substrates before any bonding: there should be no dust, dirt, or grease. Proper surface preparation is essential!

          How to apply it?

The extrusion and application of DP760 epoxy adhesive are performed using a manual EPX adhesive applicator gun. This system is very easy to use, allowing for quick, precise, and effective application.

    Two accessories are required:

          What are its industrial applications?

This product can be used, for example, for bonding two carbon pieces in an engine compartment subjected to high temperatures and vibrations during car racing.
