      What are the characteristics of 3M DP100?

The 3M DP100 is a transparent, two-component fluid epoxy adhesive belonging to the Scotch-Weld range of 3M.

Its key feature is its very short curing time (working time: 3 to 5 minutes for 10 g of mixture at 24°C), allowing for a solid permanent assembly quickly.

Its shear strength exceeds 7 MPa at 23°C.

As a rigid epoxy adhesive, it exhibits excellent durability and high shear resistance for static loads, making it very suitable for various molding applications.

It adheres to many substrates, including:

• Metal

• Glass

• Wood

• Thermosetting plastics and thermoplastics such as ABS, acetal, nylon, and rigid polystyrene

• Rubber

• Ceramics

However, avoid bonding surfaces of different materials, as this product is very fluid and applies in a thin layer. It is more sensitive to differences in the thermal expansion coefficients of materials, resulting in lower shear resistance under heat and cold.

Another notable feature is that it meets the UL 94 HB standard for the flammability of plastics.

      How is it applied?

Application is done using an EPX (Exact Proportioning Mixer) adhesive gun, along with various accessories:

• A 1:1 piston for extruding the two components
• An appropriate mixing nozzle to mix both components simultaneously
