      What are the features of 3M 9629?

3M 9629 is a double-sided polyester adhesive tape from 3M's Scotch range. One of its key applications is to provide high-performance bonding on plastics, including both high-energy surfaces (such as PC, PMMA, and ABS) and low-energy surfaces that are typically difficult to bond (polyethylene PE, polypropylene PP). It also works on a wide range of substrates, including powder-coated surfaces.

Performance:

• Excellent: on flexible PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), powder coatings, and thermoplastics.

• Very good: on aluminum, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate, PMMA, EPDM, and ABS.

• Good: on foams, felts, and fabrics.

Specific features:

• Initial adhesion is excellent: the Acrylic 360 adhesive achieves 90% of its performance within 15 minutes.

• Excellent resistance to solvents and moisture with good temperature resistance (up to 177°C peak).

• Recommended for flat, smooth materials without irregularities.

• Easy to process and cut leaving no adhesive residue on cutting blades, making it adaptable to different shapes and presentation formats (see application examples below).

• Polyester backing allows for dimensional stability, easier handling, and easier cutting into custom shapes.

Note: 3M 9629 is one of the solutions for bonding plastic, but there are other adhesives available on our website that are also suitable for plastic bonding: the 3M 9627 transfer tape (with the same 360 adhesive), 3M VHB 5925, the ADEZIF MV708 double-sided acrylic foam tape, and the 3M DP 8005 or 3M DP 8010 acrylic adhesives.

Since 3M 9629 can be easily cut, custom-cut pieces can be made with this product. For example, a 35 cm x 10.5 cm custom-cut piece is used to bond a washing machine front panel.

Laser cutting of PMMA plates using 3M 9629

3M 9629 is applied to a PMMA plate before the entire assembly is cut using a laser.	The resulting cut is precise and clean, with no burrs, overflow, or product deterioration.	The protective backing peels off smoothly and easily afterward.
