      What are the characteristics of DP 8810?

The DP 8810 is a new two-component acrylic adhesive introduced by our distributor 3M in 2014, designed for permanent and definitive bonding.

What sets it apart from traditional acrylic adhesives? Its unique formulation offers several advantages:

• Very low odor: This provides comfort during application, and the user is not bothered by strong smells.

• Faster performance build-up: The work or open time, longer than for DP 8805 NS, is 8 to 12 minutes. Structural bonding (shear strength greater than 7 MPa) is achieved in 19 to 23 minutes.

• 18-month shelf life at room temperature: Compared to 6 months at 4°C for traditional acrylic adhesives, this is a significant benefit. It helps reduce waste and costs associated with the disposal of expired products.

• UL certification: Its flammability is an added advantage.

It optimally bonds most metals and high surface energy plastics (ABS, PC, PMMA), and also works well on materials coated with powder coatings.

Its shear resistance on difficult-to-bond plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and PTFE is insufficient for ensuring strong adhesion.

It contains 250 µm glass beads, which allow for easier control of the final joint thickness.

For a shorter work time, consider using DP 8805 NS, as both products have the same technical characteristics.

      How to apply it?

The DP 8810 is applied using a manual EPX applicator gun with a 10:1 piston for 45 ml cartridges, or a pneumatic applicator for 490 ml cartridges.

A specific mixing nozzle is attached to the end of the cartridge to ensure a homogeneous mix of the two components.

It is crucial to ensure optimal surface cleaning to guarantee good adhesion.
