The three possible presentations of die-cut adhesive tape
We stock parent rolls of adhesive tapes (called jumbo or log ) that can be custom slit in order to obtain rolls of the desired width.
There are a large number of possible presentations for die-cut pieces :
-
Roll
-
Board
-
Loose or by the unit : The pieces are then packed in box or in bag.
The two possible type of cuts
Depending on the material to be cut, two types of cuts are possible for each presentation (roll, board or unit) :
- Edge to edge cut : the adhesive is unwound and cut continuously without removing any material. Some adhesives like the 3M VHB tape cannot be cut edge to edge (except with loose presentation) and must be cut with trimming.
- Cut with trimming : the adhesive is cut by the tool and the surplus of tape (the scraps) is removed. The cutting of round stickers is a typical cut with trimming. Virtually all forms of cuts are possible ; the tools are custom-made according to the drawings.
The differents options for each type of cuts
In most cases, the adhesive to be cut is held on a silicone backing paper (also called a "Liner") and then passed under the cutting tool.
Combined with the differents types of cuts, it is possible to add elements and / or complete the cutting in different ways :
- Overlapping liner (Finger lift) for the double-sided adhesive tape : In some cases, it is possible to remove the original liner of the double-sided adhesive tapes and to replace it with a liner that is wider than the adhesive. This allows for easy removal of the upper liner when laying the tape. In that case, we call it an "Overlapping liner" or a "finger lift."
-
Cutting with gripping tabs : It concerns the cut with trimming.
